Level 2 8–11 marks
• There is basic skill in the use of digital technology or ICT in the evaluation.
• There is basic understanding of the forms and conventions used in the productions.
• There is basic understanding of the role and use of new media in various stages of the production.
• There is basic understanding of the combination of main product and ancillary texts.
• There is basic understanding of the significance of audience feedback.
• There is basic skill in choice of form in which to present the evaluation.
• There is basic ability to communicate.
Evaluation one is fairly basic- I am not sure about your points on genre and intertextuality! I was hoping you'd include some screen shots of real videos so we could see more of the points you were trying to make. Evaluation 2 does demonstrate a link between your three products and you do comment on its efficacy. Evaluation 3 achieves what it set out to do but again it lacks a little in depth. It would have been good to see some evidence of actual feedback eg video of a focus group etc.

Research and Planning- marking
Level 2 8–11 marks
• Planning and research evidence may be incomplete.
• There is basic research into similar products and a potential target audience.
• There is basic work on shotlists, layouts, drafting, scripting or storyboarding.
• There is basic organisation of actors, locations, costumes or props.
• Time management may not be good.
• There is basic skill in the use of digital technology or ICT in the presentation.
• There are basic communication skills.
• There is a basic level of care in the presentation of the research and planning.
Basic intro and SWOT. You didn't really nail the lip-synch in your prelim. I like your history post but feel you could have gone into a little more detail and explained what you were saying more fully. This is also true of your other early posts. You could have looked at the codes and conventions of pop by examining its ideology and the ideology of other genres. Good Prezi on theory. I really like some of your insight in the Chandelier and A Team analyses- your point about the jerky movements of the dancer for example. I think your pitch and 'history of the song' posts could have been more detailed. Perhaps some more personal opinion about what you gained from watching other students' work? You identified your audience and did a little psychographic profiling but how would this impact on your own video? You didn't really address what you learned from your questionnaire. Shame you didn't film your focus group. Why pick MTV if you feel it's on the decline and why not explain the reasons for this? You mention viral marketing in a post that is mainly about social media. you didn't explain your strategy! Your inspiration post explains the reason you like an artiste but not really how they've achieved this admiration. Fairly basic on locations. Your editing diary gives little insight into your process. I'm glad you included a rough cut as it's nice to be able to see how things evolved. A lot of these posts just feel a little bit light. You could show a little more insight in your digipak analyses- why Ed Sheeran is more cryptic and One Direction have the faces on the cover etc. Hard to see your original digipak design! What is a website??? Your website analyses are a little descriptive of the functionality rather than analysing the feel and tone of images etc.
Some good stuff in here Rebecca but it's far from media rich and I feel some of your posts are a little in the light side.

Production Work- marking
Level 3
The candidate is expected to demonstrate proficiency in the creative use of most of the following
technical skills:
• shooting material appropriate to the task set; including controlled use of the camera, attention to framing, variety of shot sizes and close attention to mise en scene
• editing so that meaning is apparent to the viewer and making selective and appropriate use of shot transitions, captions and other effects
• recording and editing sound with images appropriately.
Video Mark 25
The main problem with this video is that it needed another location- shots of the band performing the song for example. The lip-synching is off in places but ok in others. I like the location and some effort had been put into shot selections. The editing was pacy but there simply wasn't enough variety here.
Digipak 6/10
I like the feel of the digipak which compliments the video but it's a shame the disc section has no background and the back cover is missing some basic conventions.
Website 7/10
The home page is fine functional. The content is conventional but basic.

Evaluation 4
How did you use new media technologies in the construction and research, planning and evaluation stages?
Blogger- I used blogger to present all of my research, planning, the final product and evaluation stages all in one media. It was useful for presenting all my research especially as I could insert images, prezis, slideshares and links to websites I was looking at.
Google- I used Google a lot throughout the research stages of my work to find sites with information to help me with parts of my work, for example when researching the history of music videos to help further my understanding of why we have them and there purpose.
ITunes- I used ITunes to upload the song for my music video on to IMovie for when I edited my music video.
IMovie- I used IMovie to edit the song and footage I had together to make the music video as it was the editing software I had available and know how to use it.
Social media- I used social media such as Twitter, Instagram and Snapchat to advertise the music video and show some behind the scenes extras for the audience to see so they could follow the making of the video and then here when the final product is done for them to see.
Prezi- I used prezi to make presentations for presenting some of my research and ideas in a different way to make my blog more interesting and media rich.
Wordle- I used wordle to highlight the key words that came up the most in the lyrics of the song to work out what I should try to emphasize in the music video for my chosen song.
Bubbl- I used Bubbl to make mind maps to present my initial ideas and feedback in a clear way, also to show some of my work in a different format, making my blog posts more media rich.
PowerPoint- I used PowerPoint to make a presentation about my intended audience, create my digipak and to make moodboards for parts of my planning.
Slideshare- I used slideshare to put my PowerPoint presentation onto so it could be presented in an easy way on my blog.
Survey Monkey- I used survey monkey to make the questionnaire for my target audience to find out more information about what my music video should be like and using survey monkey made it easier to send out the questionnaire and analyse the results.
Wix- I used wix to make my website home page for my artiste/ music video as it is an easy thing to use for beginners to make a professional looking, fully functioning website which I wanted to do as I was making to as a very big music artistes so wanted it to look convincing.
Bazaart- I used the app Bazaart to edit the photos of examples on the type of merchandise that could be sold for the artiste as it is a photo editing application that I am familiar with using so it enabled me to be able to make realistic looking merchandise to use.
YouTube- I used YouTube to find examples of music videos to help me with my research into conventions of music videos and finding examples of what students in the past did for their videos which was very helpful in giving me inspiration and an idea of what I needed to do.
Vimeo- I used Vimeo to upload my preliminary video, rough cut and final music video to for me to share what I have created and make it available to be watched through a link on my blog so it can be easily found and played.
